ANTaR Armidale  – Australians for Native Title & Reconciliation.

ANTaR Armidale has been operating since 1997, and came into being in response to the Government's proposed 10 Point Plan.  Over 150 Armidale people attended the first, protest meeting, and a branch of the new national organization was started.

We are also a Local Reconciliation Group, affiliated to the NSW Reconciliation Council, whose goal is: “A united Australia which respects this land of ours; values the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage; and provides justice and equity for all.”

ANTaR Armidale publishes a Newsletter, 3 or 4 times a year, which includes news and photos of reconciliation and Aboriginal activities in Armidale, often a profile of a local Aboriginal person, book reviews, occasional comment on national issues, and coming events. Contributions are welcome, and subscriptions are invited ($5 to $25 per year.)

We are always looking for ways to bring the Indigenous [Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders] and non-Indigenous people together, and have held cinema nights featuring films by Aboriginal people or that have Aboriginal themes, elders lunches, a Reconciliation Dinner, kids fun days, and floats in the Autumn Festival Parade.

In January 2007, ANTaR Armidale held an exhibition at the Keeping Place to celebrate its first ten years.

Interested people are welcome to attend our  monthly meetings at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place on the first Wednesday of each month (except January).
