Woven In Time

The Armidale and Region Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place warmly invite you to our next exhibition Woven In Time with Zeita Davis and Aiyana Tranter.

Mother-daughter artist duo returns to ACCKP with 'Woven In Time'. This exhibit shows us a glimpse of how our experience is not linear, but woven from the past, present, and future.

Born and raised in Inverell, New South Wales, Zeita's work is deeply rooted in her cultural heritage, the rich traditions of her ancestors, and her connection to Sea and Country. Zeita's artistic journey is marked by her unwavering commitment to preserving and celebrating her Torres Strait Island cultural identity. Her art frequently explores themes of connection to land, sea, sky, and community, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic nature of her culture. She often combines both Torres Strait Islander and Abor  iginal themes and styles to tell her story on canvas.

Zeita's exhibitions, such as “Potha Minaral,” "A Living Culture," and "Grounded to Country," have been celebrated for their ability to immerse viewers in the stories and spirit of her people. Her work not only showcases her exceptional talent but also serves as a bridge between past and present, ensuring that cultural narratives will continue to thrive in the future.

Aiyana Tranter is a proud Ait Koedal and Kamilaroi woman. Born and raised on Gadigal land, Aiyana’s artwork echoes her strong connection to country, culture, tradition, and family. Working primarily with acrylic, Aiyana continues to explore her style whilst taking contemporary approach to translating her heritage and unique connection to the sea, land, and sky. Woven through each artwork are subtle elements of the strong ancestral link to her surroundings.

Aiyana continues to make her mark by immersing the viewer in artworks reflecting the power of an unbroken and thriving culture.
